Welcome to the User Guide for Product Rentals Pro!
Product Rentals Pro is an app available from the Shopify App Store that allows Shopify stores to rent their products.
Shopify doesn't cater for this out-of-the-box. Product Rentals Pro will help you offer a rental service to your customers, whilst still using the power of Shopify for everything else.
New to Product Rentals Pro and don't fancy reading the docs....?
Product Rentals Pro is usually perfect for businesses that rent products in this way:
Products can be rented for a set number of days, with the minimum being 1 day
You deliver rentals in one or more ways (e.g. post, pick-up) and want your system to be flexible to each of these delivery methods
Product Rentals Pro is not currently suitable for businesses where:
Products can be rented for parts of a day (e.g. a number of hours)
Hourly rentals may be part of a future release of Product Rentals Pro, but it won't be available until at least the second half of 2025.
The key features of Product Rentals Pro, some of which you won't find anywhere else, include:
Fully customizable rental calendar widget on your product page, showing customers live availability of the product, and allowing them to select dates for their rental.
Tight integration with Shopify, with the app fully embedded into the Shopify admin.
Create rentals manually in the admin and make them instantly available for payment via invoice, Shopify admin, or Shopify POS.
Set default buffers for rentals based on their delivery method (e.g. pick-up vs post), meaning you can optimise availability.
Manually set buffers at individual rental level, again optimising availability and reducing the risk of a clash between rentals due to delayed/remote delivery.
Set buffers based on either calendar days or business days, with allowance for public holidays, to allow for days you know your postage providers don't operate.
Set up different automated notification templates for each delivery method (pickup, post, local courier), with both email and SMS options.
Fulfillments dashboard, designed to help you complete your dispatch/collection processes, with delivery buffers accounted for.
Returns dashboard, designed to help you track return of your rented products, and to easily send reminders to any customers who are slow in returning your items.
Charge customers for optional insurance or damage protection with customizable fee.
Offer products for rent or buy, without having to set up separate products in Shopify.
A beautiful "card" view of the rentals list, providing all the info you need at a glance.
