The Rental Settings screen allows you to configure how rentals are managed in Product Rentals Pro. The main purpose of these settings is to drive how availability works within the calendar in the Rental Widget on your product pages.
You can configure different settings for each Delivery Method you have activated for your store within Product Rentals Pro. This is important because the Delivery Method of rentals already in place, and the chosen Delivery Method of any new customers looking to create a new rental on your website, can really affect available dates. Default Rental Duration
The number of days the system will default to if the number of days can't be determined by options & variants configured on a rental product. This will only be used if none of the Options on the Product have been set as "Affects Duration" in the Options & Variants Settings screen.
Delivery Methods
Tick the Delivery Methods you want to activate for your store. These will appear as options on the product page. When a customer selects their preferred Delivery Method, it will update the dates available for selection in the rental availability calendar.
When you tick a Delivery Method, a form for applying settings for that Delivery Method will become visible in the form further below.
If only one Delivery Method is activated, customers won't be shown options to select a Delivery Method within the Rental Widget on the Product page. Settings will just default to the one activated Delivery Method.
For each ticked Delivery Method, the following settings will be available.
Name displayed to customers on product page
Allows you to use a different name for the Delivery Method. For example, instead of "Pickup" you might use "Pickup from Store" or "Pickup/Drop-off".
Start date label
The name to use to represent the rental start date for this Delivery Method. This will be shown on the rental widget, but also in cart, checkout and in the customer's Order Confirmation email from Shopify.
End date label
As above, but represents the rental end date for the Delivery Method.
Blocked days from current date
The number of days to always block in the calendar, starting from today. This prevents you from receiving rental Orders at too short notice.
"Today" will not be counted as 1 day if it is after the Cut-off Time. For example, if your settings are 2 calendar days with a Cut-off Time of 16:00, and it is currently after 16:00, then today, tomorrow and the day after tomorrow will be blocked in the calendar.
Default buffer prior to rental
The default start buffer that will apply to any new rentals with this Delivery Method. This will also be used to determine dates available for selection in the calendar of the Rental Widget on the Product page when a customer has selected this Delivery Method.
This usually represents the number of days typically required to deliver from your store to a customer, for the Delivery Method.

Default buffer after rental
The default end buffer that will apply to any newly created rentals with this Delivery Method. This will also be used to determine dates available for selection in the calendar of the Rental Widget on the Product page when a customer has selected this Delivery Method.
This usually represents the number of days typically required for the delivery from the customer back to you, plus any time you need to clean/restore the product to be ready for the next dispatch or pick-up.

Bookings cannot start on
The days which will be blocked for selection as the rental start date in the calendar of the Rental Widget on the Product page.
For example, if you have "Post" activated, and your postage providers don't deliver on weekends, you would tick Saturday and Sunday.
If you have "Pickup" activated and your store is only open for collections on Wednesday to Saturday, then you would tick Sunday, Monday and Tuesday.
