An overview of the Rental Detail screen

You can view the full details of a rental via the Rental Detail screen. This can be accessed by clicking on the rental number via any of the screens which list rentals - namely, the Rentals List, the Fulfillments screen or the Returns screen.
Below is an example:
You can make updates to the rental details by updating the form fields on the Rental Detail screen and saving your changes.
The majority of information can be updated, however some information is pulled directly from the linked Shopify Order, and can't be updated from the Rental Detail screen. Updates will need to be made from the Shopify Order Detail screen.
You can add/remove Products from the rental easily from the Rental Detail screen.
Note: Making changes to the Products in the rental will not update the linked Shopify Order. The Order is kept in it's original form so that it it's clear what the customer originally put through the checkout and what they paid for. If you want to also update the Order, you can, but it's often not necessary if you're using Product Rentals Pro as your system for determining what needs to be dispatched and returned.
To remove a Product, simply click the red icon beside the Product in the Products list of the rental.
To add a Product:
Click the Add Product button
The Product Picker dialog opens, allowing you to browse and search for a Product from your store. Tick the Product you want to add then click Select.
The dialog will close and the Product will appear in the Products list for the rental.
If the Product has variants, a "Select Variant" link will be displayed, in which case always you have to select one. Click the link to open the Variant Picker dialog. If the Product doesn't have any variants, this link won't appear and you can skip to step 6.
Tick the variant from the Variant Picker and click Select. The dialog will close and the chosen variant will appear next to the Product title in the Products list of the rental.
Note that Products that haven't been imported into Product Rentals Pro will still appear in the Product Picker dialog. This is because Shopify prefers that apps use their built-in Product picker which can't be filtered in this way.
However, if you select a Product that hasn't been imported into Product Rentals Pro before, when you try to Save the rental, it will let you know and ask if you want to import it now.
You can also change the variant for a Product by clicking the "Change Variant" link on a Product in the Products list of the rental. This can be used if the customer has asked to swap the size or change the rental duration.
The Buffers on a new rental created from an Order on your online store will be set as the default you've entered for the selected Delivery Method. However, you can manually adjust these for an individual rental however you wish.
As an example, you might do this if you know the rental needs more/less delivery time than normal. The availability shown in the calendar on your website will be instantly updated accordingly.
The Buffer dates are never shown to the customer. They are for store purposes only. In effect, they allow you to set the full duration needed for the rental without changing the rental start and end date communicated to the customer.

Whilst any rentals linked to Shopify Order utilise Shopify's functionality for Fulfillments, Return details are entered and tracked directly within Product Rentals Pro. There are nuances between a regular return of a purchased item and the return of a rental, so we've chosen to manage this within Product Rentals Pro at this point in time.
When dispatching a rental, you can enter the Return tracking number and link into the Rental Detail screen, which will help when processing returns. This number/link will displayed on each rental card within the Returns screen.
Update the Rental Status using the dropdown box at the top right.
Note you can also update Rental Status quickly from card view of one of the rentals list screens, or using the Bulk Edit feature in table view.
Rental Notes is a free-text field where you can enter any internal notes about the rental. They are never visible to the customer, and you can use it to hold any information you choose.
Things like:
A comment about the customer's delivery requirements
Let your team know it's a VIP customer and to take extra special care
Put a note to try and dispatch early if possible
Put a note to your team to include something else in the customer's package (e.g. an accessory that goes with the product, a complimentary item or a gift card)
To add a note click the Edit link at the top right of the Rental Notes box to open up the "Edit Rental Notes" dialog. Enter your notes and click Done.
To emphasise that it's something you should pay attention to, the Rental Notes box will turn an orange colour whenever anything has been entered.
Note that you still need to click Save on the main Rental Detail screen in order for the Notes to be retained.
Rental Notes are different to the Order Notes which are often entered by the customer during checkout, and updateable via the Shopify Order screen. It's possible a customer may see Order Notes, depending on your Shopify configuration, theme and other apps you may have installed.
If they exist, Order Notes are displayed on the Rental Detail screen beneath the Delivery Address.
Both Rental Notes and Order Notes are displayed when using card view on a rentals list screen.
Depending on how you use the field, you might want to timestamp each note to keep track of changes. Just click the link to have a add the current date/time to the end of the existing text, where you can then add any new notes underneath.
